Situation
A leading food service equipment manufacturer sought advice on whether reasonable protections against copying could be developed for new commercial oven technology that it was considering acquiring.
Result
Husch Blackwell’s robust analysis included commissioning external searches for third-party patents and patent applications; investigating the current state of known oven technology; interviewing the client’s own engineers and third-party inventors; and identifying aspects of the new technology that were highly likely to be patentable. Based on the results, the manufacturer opted to move forward with the acquisition.
