Owner to Prime Contractor (Public): Unless otherwise agreed by contract, 30 working days after receipt of invoice.

Prime Contractor to Subcontractor (Public): 10 days after receipt of payment from owner.

Interest/Penalties (Public): Interest at the prime interest rate as reported on the money market page of the Wall Street Journal published on the first regular business day of each month.

Pay-If-Paid Permissible: Unclear. Rhode Island has not yet addressed contingent payment clauses.

Special Notes: Doesn’t apply projects with the Department of Transportation subcontractor provides a payment and performance bond.
