Overview

Ryan is dedicated to helping communities build and thrive through effective legal solutions.

Ryan's decision to pursue a legal career stemmed from his time as a staffer in the United States Senate, where he worked on housing and energy policy. He saw firsthand the complex legal challenges that hinder community development and was inspired by the role attorneys play in overcoming these obstacles.

As a law student, Ryan gained valuable energy law experience through positions with a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Commissioner and with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He also served as a judicial extern at the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, where he honed his skills in effective written and oral communication.

Today, Ryan helps clients get real estate transactions across the finish line. His experience in the Senate prepared him well for this work: he learned that getting work done requires understanding the viewpoints and concerns of everyone involved, as well as finding common ground with those on the other side of the table.

Ryan values the opportunity to help clients build communities by providing economic opportunity, increasing housing, and developing renewable energy infrastructure.

Outside the Office

Ryan enjoys cycling, running, bouldering, and playing pickup or intramural sports. He’s also always looking for other opportunities to be outdoors, including hiking, camping, or fishing.

As a former football player at Drake University, Ryan is a dedicated fan of all the Bulldog’s athletic teams.

Ryan also enjoys cooking, especially when it’s a feast for his large family. He’s particularly proud of once single-handedly making a Beef Wellington Christmas dinner for more than 30 relatives—an undertaking he never wants to repeat.
