Michaela helps clients navigate healthcare regulatory and compliance matters in a complex, evolving industry.
Michaela was drawn to law because she enjoys working through gray areas: considering different perspectives and competing interpretations to understand how the details shape the answer. Before law school, Michaela interned with the corporate HR team at a global equipment manufacturer, where she saw how legal and compliance issues shape day-to-day business decisions. That experience helped her connect her interest in nuanced questions with the practical challenges businesses face.
Healthcare regulatory work appealed to Michaela for its variety, combining transactional work with a mix of regulatory disputes, and for the opportunity to help providers navigate the requirements that affect their work. Administrative Law was a favorite law school course for Michaela, reflecting her interest in the nuances of regulation and how it evolves. She also served as Judging Director for the Board of Advocates during law school, organizing moot court and mock trial competitions and working closely with classmates, professors, and local attorneys to build strong experiences for students.
As a summer associate at Husch Blackwell, Michaela focused on healthcare regulatory research for long-term care providers, including skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. Her work included nursing home discharge issues and research supporting the defense of Medicare and Medicaid fraud audits. She also assisted with pretrial and discovery work in several litigation matters.
Known for being dependable and reliable, Michaela aims to give clients confidence that their matters are handled carefully and thoroughly from start to finish.
