Lakeeta draws on 20+ years in the legal industry to help make the firm and its attorneys and clients as successful as possible.
For as long as she can remember, fairness has been chief among Lakeeta’s core values. This naturally led to an interest in law, and she began her career overseeing class action lawsuit administration with the intention of later becoming an attorney. However, she soon discovered that her true passion wasn’t the practice of law; it was the business operations work inherent in law. Lakeeta worked in several law firms before moving to an in-house corporate role, later becoming assistant vice president of global legal operations.
In 2023, Lakeeta joined Husch Blackwell as managing director of the Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Education industry unit. It was a field where she has history: early in her career she assisted with healthcare regulatory work, going on to earn an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. Impressed by the firm’s client-driven industry structure, she’d long been drawn to Husch Blackwell, and a management role with the Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Education practice was an ideal fit.
As managing director, Lakeeta is responsible for the unit’s overall strategic planning and business development, client relationship management, and economic growth. She keeps the unit on a growth trajectory through lateral recruiting efforts, ensuring that the firm can meet evolving client needs.
Lakeeta is a servant-leader who has always seen her number one responsibility as simply helping people develop and perform as highly as possible. Two decades in, she still sees the best part of her job as the opportunity to help attorneys and clients.
