Overview

With a Ph.D. in viral genetics, Kay assists life sciences clients with patent prosecution.

Kay works with clients to address patent needs, offering support that ranges from drafting and prosecuting patent applications to guiding patent strategy, responding to office actions, and assessing risks related to infringement. As a patent agent and scientific advisor, Kay manages projects and collaborates directly with inventors, scientists, and university professors. This includes turning research and scientific manuscripts into concise, effective patent applications. Clients include startups, universities, and major corporations across the life sciences sector.

Kay brings a strong research background, having earned a Ph.D. and spent years as a postdoctoral researcher. This hands-on experience in the lab shaped a practical approach to problem-solving, which now informs every aspect of her patent prosecution work. Kay’s understanding of the research process helps her ask the right questions and translate complex scientific findings into patent applications that meet legal standards.

Clients benefit from Kay’s ability to communicate in terms that make sense to scientists and researchers. Kay is aware of the practical constraints that clients face, including budgets and deadlines, and is committed to providing clear explanations about legal issues and the steps required for a successful patent application.

By combining scientific knowledge with a direct, solutions-focused approach, Kay helps clients protect their innovations and move research forward. This means working efficiently, keeping business goals in mind, and ensuring that patent strategies are well matched to real-world needs.
