As Chief Information Security Officer, Ian works to protect both the firm and its clients.
Ian can barely remember a time when he didn’t love computers: in early elementary school, he was fortunate enough to have access to a personal computer. It was a world with no internet and no one to teach him the basics, so Ian quickly learned to teach himself. He wrote his first program in elementary school and had assembled his first computer by high school. His first professional role was as a network administrator in the early 90s, building and securing some of the earliest computer system networks.
For more than 20 years, Ian has focused his career on protecting digital information. Long before cybersecurity became a well-known field, Ian was building security teams at companies where roles didn’t even exist yet. As threats grow more sophisticated, Ian thrives on the challenge of staying ahead by continually learning and finding innovative way to protect data.
Enthusiastic about the firm’s strong reputation for fostering innovation and its people-first culture, Ian joined Husch Blackwell in 2013 and went on to become Chief Information Security Officer in 2024. He is particularly proud of helping the firm achieve ISO certification and leading a smaller but highly engaged and dedicated team, whose close collaboration and passion have been key to the firm’s success in staying secure.
Ian knows that information security isn’t just important for the firm itself—it’s essential for the firm’s clients as well, and he values the trust clients place in him and his team to keep their information safe.
