Overview

Andrew helps clients in the energy industry with real estate needs, including transactions, regulatory matters, and project development.

Andrew came to law school after a career as a software engineer, where staying current required constantly learning new skills to meet the next challenge. That mindset of humility stuck with him, but he wanted his day-to-day work to more directly serve causes he cared about, and law offered a path to make that shift.

During law school, Andrew's work with the Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law Clinic at the University of Colorado stood out. As a student-attorney, he represented a community group before Colorado state agencies, drafted redlines to proposed energy regulations, and presented arguments to state regulators. That experience, paired with an interest in building a less carbonized electric grid, drew him to energy real estate, where he enjoys contract negotiations and tracing a project site's history to help clients get ahead of issues before developing energy projects.

As a summer associate at Husch Blackwell, Andrew reviewed lease provisions for wind and solar projects, researched federal energy cases shaping the regulatory framework clients operate within, and studied resource adequacy planning for grid operators building out generation capacity nationwide. The work let him move between big-picture industry research and hands-on contract drafting that incorporated client concerns into site control documents.

Known for close attention to detail, Andrew aims to help clients navigate every stage of project development, whether the issue involves real estate, financing, or regulatory compliance. Clients can expect him to stay closely attuned to their needs throughout a matter.
