Rebecca Mitich will speak on "Revitalization Through Preservation" with the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance (MPA) through the Urban Economic Development Association of Wisconsin Emerging Topics Series on July 13, 2021.
Historic preservation can be an effective tool for supporting economic development efforts related to affordable housing, commercial corridor revitalization and neighborhood stabilization. The webinar will discuss leveraging tax incentive programs and community partnerships to restore properties and spaces into places that deliver on community wants and needs.
Alongside MPA's executive director, Rebecca will discuss local Milwaukee examples of successful preservation projects, how the deals were structured and how attendees might identify and restore a place in their own communities that holds special meaning. Attendees will also get an up-close look at the decade-long effort to restore the Milwaukee Soldiers Home into housing for homeless veterans and their families. Register here.
