SXSW Edu Panel, "Finding the Balance: Freedom of Speech on Campus" – Thursday, March 8
Colleges and universities play a vital role in promoting free speech. This often means a robust expression of different viewpoints—some of which can be challenging to students and faculty. Institutions must balance their obligation to protect freedom of speech with demands to limit the expression of offensive ideas. Our panel will discuss these competing interests and how they manifest on campus, as well as strategies for protecting freedom of speech while preserving a welcoming climate.
