Join Husch Blackwell for the ABA Health Law Section's Inaugural False Claims Act Virtual Trial Program. This program includes a live, three-day mock jury trial for two hours a day conducted by experienced False Claim Act attorneys and presided over by a federal judge from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Attendees will be able to observe the jury deliberations, receive insights on effective trial advocacy methods from premier jury consultants and experienced litigators, and have the opportunity to have discussions with the participants about the unique challenges and effective strategies in defending complex False Claim Act trials.

Agenda

  • July 7: Observe and consider the overall trial themes selected by the parties to win over the jury in a complex area of law, starting with strategies in Voir dire proceedings and exercising challenges in jury selection.
  • July 8: Watch how counsel for the plaintiff and defendant implement their strategies with witnesses in the case during direct and cross examination.
  • July 9: During the decisive finale, notice how counsel for the plaintiff and defendant weave their trial strategies and themes, designed to sway jury evaluation of the evidence, in their closing arguments.

Our Involvement

  • Tamar Hodges will participate in the role of the defense team's nurse expert witness in this program.
  • Hal Katz serves as the Chair-elect of the American Bar Association, Health Law Section.
