Husch Blackwell’s Real Estate team has played a pivotal role in AMC Theatres' purchase of Starplex Cinemas, a transaction worth $172 million in cash, subject to working capital and other adjustments.
"Real estate attorneys from Husch Blackwell’s Missouri offices performed a due diligence review involving a large number of real estate leases within a very short time frame," said John Crossley, who led the AMC real estate transaction team. "Starplex owns 33 movie theatres in 12 states, so this was a major project. Our ability to rapidly assemble a team and deliver the completed project on a tight deadline was critical to AMC’s ability to evaluate this acquisition and decide to move forward."
Husch Blackwell is serving as lead legal advisor to AMC Theatres in the purchase of privately held Starplex Cinemas of Dallas. When the transaction is complete, AMC of Leawood, Kansas, will operate approximately 380 theatres across the United States.
