News Releases

Husch Blackwell Partner Julian Rivera of Austin, Texas, was recently named a 2015 Volunteer of the Year by the Austin Chamber of Commerce.

Rivera, a partner in the firm’s Healthcare, Life Sciences and Education group, was honored by the Chamber in the area of Education. Rivera facilitated the formation and engagement of a nine-school district, Austin Community College, and multi-Chamber partnership which developed a formal action plan for the Austin region to achieve a 70 percent direct college enrollment rate in 2016. With Rivera’s continued assistance, the partnership is engaged in an integrated effort including data integration and community leadership engagement to execute and achieve the goal. The partnership is also considering additional regional challenges that can be addressed with the same collaborative effort.

“We are proud of Julian’s leadership role in Austin’s vibrant community life,” said Curt Chase, leader of the firm’s Healthcare, Life Sciences and Education group. “Julian’s selection for this award exemplifies Husch Blackwell’s support of, and commitment to, Austin and our other 15 communities.”

Rivera’s legal practice includes work for health care organizations on a wide range of technology, governance, business and regulatory matters. He received his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law and his B.S. in biology from the University of Houston. He was honored with nine other 2015 Volunteer of the Year award recipients at the Austin Chamber’s 138th Annual Meeting on January 28.
