Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce today the opening of its new offices in Boston and Providence. The launch, announced in July, brings the total number of offices opened in 2021 to four, following new offices in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area that opened April 1, 2021, and brings the firm’s total offices to 25 nationwide.

The healthcare-focused expansion into New England coincides with a strong year for Husch Blackwell’s healthcare industry team. In June 2021, Husch Blackwell scored a national ranking from Chambers USA for top healthcare law firms and in July, the firm moved into the top five of the American Health Law Association’s annual ranking. Members of Husch Blackwell’s Healthcare group also serve as the current chair of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section and as the President-Elect of the American Health Law Association.

“Our healthcare team had already established itself as one of five largest groups in the country,” said Husch Blackwell partner Curt Chase, who leads the firm’s healthcare team. “This combination both enhances our bench strength and opens up opportunities for us in New England, which is one of the leading markets for healthcare services and a place we have long wanted to plant a flag.”

The newly arrived lawyers from Summit Health Law Partners bring to the firm strong client relationships throughout New England and are established legal practitioners in the areas of contracting, transactions, and federal and state healthcare regulatory law, particularly in navigating Massachusetts’ complex healthcare regulatory environment. They routinely assist hospitals and health systems, academic medical centers, eldercare facilities, behavioral health clinics, pharmacies, and physician groups, among others, across all areas of business operations.

“Joining Husch Blackwell instantly scales up our service offering and what we are able to bring to our clients in terms of turn-key legal solutions,” said Robert Blaisdell, the former managing partner of Summit Health Law Group. “To the extent that clients want and need to consolidate their legal spend and gain efficiencies, we can now do that by bundling virtually any and all legal services they need, and we can do it by fielding deep teams and providing highly competitive rates.”

“I think our clients are going to be impressed with Husch Blackwell for the same reasons we were,” said Providence-based partner Jeffrey Chase-Lubitz. “The firm has eminent practitioners on every subject matter relevant to healthcare operations. The industry is evolving quickly, and that kind of state-of-the-art knowledge is critical, whether it’s managing relatively new areas like digital health and telemedicine, structuring innovative hospital-physician agreements, or tackling emerging antitrust challenges in connection with industry consolidation. Husch Blackwell has the entire field covered.”
