Husch Blackwell represented AMC Theatres in its acquisition of competitor Carmike Cinemas in a $1.1 billion deal that will make the combined company the largest movie theater chain in the country, with 663 theaters in 45 states.
Husch Blackwell partner Jim Ash led the transaction team, along with partner Kirstin Salzman, senior counsel Shari Wright and associate Bert Seefeldt.
Carmike of Columbus, Georgia, has 2,954 screens, primarily in midsize, nonurban communities. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
