Husch Blackwell is pleased to congratulate Black & Veatch on the formation of a new strategic alliance with Brightergy to develop and install $100 million in commercial-scale photovoltaic solar rooftop projects over the next three years. Husch Blackwell worked with the global engineering firm in connection with the alliance, which will involve Black & Veatch installing solar systems for projects developed by Brightergy to address the growing demand for renewable energy.

The Black & Veatch alliance is the latest example of Husch Blackwell’s commitment to innovative developments in the rapidly evolving and expanding distributed solar sector. In addition to working with project developers, commercial hosts, investors and financing parties, Black & Veatch has been involved in extensive distributed solar installations at U.S. military bases as part of the Department of Defense’s renewable energy initiative, and assists leading solar industry organizations with key legislative and regulatory issues.

Husch Blackwell's role in the distributed solar market has been matched by an equally active role in utility-scale photovoltaic and concentrated solar projects. Recent utility-scale work has included representation of NV Energy Inc. in a groundbreaking transaction with Apple Inc., announced in July, for the development and operation of a 20-megawatt solar facility in Nevada, subsequent representation of a project owner in its recent acquisition and construction of a 20-megawatt solar project in California, and development and related work for multiple solar projects in Texas.

Husch Blackwell is deeply involved in both the distributed and utility-scale solar markets throughout the United States and beyond. The firm’s lawyers represent clients throughout the energy industry, providing a full range of legislative, regulatory, transactional, commercial and litigation services. Members of the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources team understand the evolving energy and natural resources sectors and help clients take advantage of a constantly changing environment to achieve their strategic goals.
