Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Marlon E. Lutfiyya has been named the firm’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion. Lutfiyya joined Husch Blackwell as Professional Development Manager in March 2012, and his new appointment encompasses both roles. As Director of Diversity, Lutfiyya will lead and advance the ongoing development and implementation of the firm’s diversity and inclusion strategies. He is stationed in the firm’s Chicago office, but will work to promote these efforts firmwide, collaborating with the firm’s top leadership and Diversity Committee.

“An inclusive environment maximizes professional achievement, resulting in a more diverse yet cohesive team, better able to serve our clients’ needs,” said Chris Miller, Diversity Committee Chair. “We are committed to recruiting, retaining and promoting talented attorneys and staff with diverse backgrounds. Marlon shares in this commitment and we are thrilled that he will be a leader in our continuing efforts to improve our inclusive environment.”

Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Lutfiyya practiced as an Associate at Winston & Strawn LLP in Chicago (2006-2012), and at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York (2003-2006). At both firms, he assisted in legal recruiting efforts, interviewing candidates and participating in job fairs.

Lutfiyya received his J.D. from New York University School of Law (2003), where he was Notes Development Editor for New York University Law Review. He received his B.A. from Yale University (1997).

Husch Blackwell believes in the power of diversity. The largest U.S. firm with an African-American Chairman, it consistently receives high ratings in the annual Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, and Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers named the firm to the 2012 “50 Best Law Firms for Women” list.
