Matthew Ahlers brings a focus on real estate and development matters to Husch Blackwell.

Husch Blackwell welcomes Associate Matthew D. Ahlers to its St. Louis, Mo., office. He will focus his practice primarily on real estate and development matters, bringing experience working on federal and state historic tax credit matters as well as New Markets Tax Credit transactions.

Ahlers previously served as an associate at St. Louis firm Rosenblum Goldenhersh (2013-2014). While there, he assisted clients with state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credit equity and New Markets Tax Credit transactions. He also helped developers with tax controversy matters involving the IRS, and developers and lenders in securing HUD/FHA insured financing.

Ahlers received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law (2013), where he was a staff member of the Public Law Review and received three Academic Excellence Awards. Prior and during law school, Ahlers was a regulatory and warehouse manager for Archway Sales, Inc. (2008-2013). He also previously worked as a Housing Department Manager for the Justine Peterson counseling agency (2006-2008) and as a high school social studies teacher for the Rockwood School District (2002-2006). Ahlers received his M.A. in Secondary Education, summa cum laude, from Maryville University in St. Louis (2002) and his B.A. in History, summa cum laude, from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. (1999).
