Definition of “Public Works”: “Public works project” means the construction, reconstruction, alteration, remodeling, repair or demolition of any public building or any other public works by a public entity.

Any “public entity” is defined as the state of Connecticut, and any agency, instrumentality, or political subdivision of the state of Connecticut. 

Categories of Construction Covered: Building; Highway; Residential; Heavy

Source of Funds: Connecticut prevailing wage laws shall apply in connection with any new construction of public works projects, where the total cost of all work to be performed by contractors and subcontractors exceeds $1,000,000.

Additionally, Connecticut prevailing wage laws shall apply where the total cost of work to be performed by contractors or subcontractors in connection with any remodeling, refinishing, refurbishing, rehabilitation, alteration or repair of any public works project exceeds $100,000.

The prevailing wage rate determinations may be adjusted annually on or before July 1st of each year.
