P3 Used to Redevelop Denver’s Union Station

Situation

Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) wanted to redevelop Union Station. We helped RTD structure a public-private partnership of CDOT and RTD funds, developer equity, historic tax credits and construction financing.

Result

Since its complete in 2014, Union Station has become the hub for RTD’s light rail, commuter rail, train-to-plane and bus systems. It houses Denver’s AMTRAK station, a 110-room hotel, restaurant and retail space, and a 12,000-square-foot great hall. The $52 million project is the centerpiece of a new Union Station neighborhood in Denver’s LoDo.
