Situation
A former retail store in downtown Milwaukee was slated for redevelopment as part of a project that included adding a RiverWalk segment and public access to the river. Husch Blackwell was engaged to advise both the developer and the bank that provided financing for the $40 million project. Our team facilitated the short-term construction financing, New Markets Tax Credits, development agreements with the city for the RiverWalk portion of the project, lease work and structuring of ownership interests.
Result
The project, a mix of old and new construction that was completed within an expedited 13 months of construction, has drawn new workers and visitors to the revitalized area.
