Situation
When owners of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team envisioned a new downtown stadium to replace the existing 1960s-era ballpark, the city of St. Louis reached out to Husch Blackwell to serve as its counsel in the complex negotiations for the $400 million+ development.
Result
Husch Blackwell played the leading role in representing the city in the structuring of the governmental incentives provided by the city, county and state to support development of the modern ballpark. We also drafted all the agreements and leases necessary to keep the team playing in St. Louis for the long term. We continue to represent the city in connection with the Ballpark Village mixed-use development next to the 46,000-seat stadium.
