When Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin Inc. sought a location for a new retail store and training center, it considered a property occupied by a family-operated dry cleaning business. However, the purchase was complicated by years-old solvent contamination to the soil and groundwater.
Result
Our team helped Goodwill secure a brownfield grant for the cleanup; enter the Volunteer Party Liability Exemption program, which transfers environmental liability to the state; and negotiate the remediation agreement to complete the $3.3 million deal.
