Contaminated Land Redeveloped Into a Drugstore

Situation

When road improvements brought greater commercial visibility to a blighted parcel in De Pere, Wisconsin, a developer sought to transform the acreage into a drugstore. However, estimates for environmental remediation and utility relocation came in higher than expected.

Result

The Husch Blackwell team was instrumental in helping the developer work with the city and state to utilize a combination of cooperative funding sources that moved the project forward. The new store has increased property tax receipts, created new jobs and provided convenient access to shopping for area residents.
