Situation
Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. sought to form a joint venture with Spanish renewable energy developer Abengoa, S.A., for the international development and construction of clean energy and water infrastructure assets.
Result
Our team counseled Algonquin on acquiring a 25 percent, $608 million equity stake in an English company, Atlantica Yield plc, and formed a joint venture with Abengoa. We also served as U.S. counsel in the $500 million equity offering by Algonquin in Canada, the proceeds of which partially funded the acquisition.
