Coty Hopinks-Baul Receives Pro Bono Award, Jenny Schwendemann Named Committee Co-Chair

On Oct. 19, Husch Blackwell’s Carlota “Coty” Hopinks-Baul received a Young Lawyers Section Pro Bono Award at the Missouri Bar’s annual Awards Banquet. An Associate of the firm’s Environmental group, Hopinks-Baul was selected for her extensive and consistent commitment to pro bono service, volunteering an average of 10 hours per week on a variety of matters including warrants, traffic citations as well as immigration, criminal defense and child custody cases.

The Missouri Bar also appointed Husch Blackwell’s Director of Pro Bono Services Jennifer Schwendemann Co-Chair of the Delivery of Legal Services Committee, effective Oct. 20. The committee’s mission is to use all appropriate means in order to improve the delivery of legal services to the public, including matters related to handicapped, elderly and low-income persons.

Husch Blackwell encourages its attorneys to serve the community by providing pro bono work. The firm gives full billable hour credit to its attorneys for time spent on pro bono work and supports various programs where firm offices are located.
