Only up to five percent of attorneys in a state are named Super Lawyers. The candidate pool is created by surveying lawyers statewide who have practiced law for at least five years. Research is done by reviewing periodicals and legal trade journals, as well as searching databases and online resources. The nominees are then evaluated based on their background and experience. Following this, peer evaluations are conducted and finally, attorneys are selected.
Less than two and a half percent of attorneys in a state are named Missouri & Kansas Rising Stars 2008. The lawyers who make this list must be under 40 years old and have less than 10 years of legal experience. They go through the same selection process, excluding the peer evaluations, Super Lawyers do.
