Skelton Recognized for His Service and Support
Missouri State Highway Patrol Superintendent Col. Ron Replogle presented Husch Blackwell Partner Ike Skelton with a plaque recognizing his longtime support of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The honor was bestowed on Skelton at a ceremony in Husch Blackwell's Kansas City, Mo., office on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Prior to joining Husch Blackwell as a Partner in March, Skelton served 34 years as a U.S. Representative from Missouri's 4th District and six years in the Missouri State Senate. His relationship with the Missouri State Highway Patrol extends back more than 50 years, when Skelton began his legal career as a county prosecutor in 1956, working alongside the Highway Patrol on many cases. Skelton gained an understanding of the important role these civil servants play and committed to supporting their efforts in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C. When he served in the state Senate, he served as an advocate for the Highway Patrol's budgetary needs and continued to lend support to the department from Capitol Hill. In remarks made before Congress on June 9, 2000, Skelton gave tribute to the Highway Patrol, stating, "The troopers of the Missouri State Highway Patrol exemplify the highest tradition of duty and service to the protection of the citizens of Missouri."
Skelton concentrates his legal practice in the areas of Government Contracts, advising clients on a variety of legal and public policy issues, especially matters relating to national defense, small business and international trade.
