Husch Blackwell Sanders attorneys Anthony E. Weigel and Maxwell Carr-Howard will speak at the American Immigration Lawyers Association Fall Conference on December 12, 2008, in New Orleans, titled “Cutting Edge Issues in Worksite Compliance & Enforcement.” This CLE event will address how to prepare for immigration enforcement actions and how to deal with regulatory, policy, and legislative developments. Other topics that will be covered include E-Verify, I-9 ICE audits and raids, recent criminal prosecutions, and ethical issues.

Both attorneys are participating in panel discussions. Weigel will lead a panel covering updates on legal challenges to state laws, developing compliance plans, and responding to state enforcement actions. Carr-Howard’s panel will discuss government investigations, employers' rights in enforcement actions, and representing employers in criminal prosecutions.

Weigel also serves as a member of the Conference Program Committee. As part of this committee, he helped to develop discussion topics and identify panelists.

Husch Blackwell Sanders attorneys can assist with the development and implementation of immigration compliance plans, compliance training for management and key employees, self-audits of I-9 records, contractor compliance issues, and responses to federal and state requests and enforcement actions.
