Husch Blackwell's Government Contracts team announces the launch of its blog titled The Contractor's Perspective (www.contractorsperspective.com). This online resource focuses on the legal issues important to companies doing business with the federal government. In 2010, federal agencies spent more than $535 billion to purchase private sector goods and services. Written by nine highly regarded Husch Blackwell Government Contracts attorneys, The Contractor's Perspective provides insight and analysis on significant court decisions, new legislation and regulatory changes relevant to government contractors.

"Contracting with the government offers many opportunities, but it also imposes some unique burdens," said Walter Wilson, of Husch Blackwell's Government Contracts practice. "Our goal is to deliver information that will help companies understand and apply the rules affecting their federal contracts."

In addition to amendments to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and other policy changes, the blog provides guidance for handling difficult and recurring problems in government contracts. The authors address how to recognize and react to government-initiated changes, how to prepare a request for equitable adjustment, and how to respond to an audit by the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA). Recent blog entries discuss the Federal Awardee Performance and Integrity Information System database, otherwise known as FAPIIS, and strategies for contractors seeking to minimize the impact of the looming government shutdown.

Husch Blackwell's Government Contracts attorneys represent domestic and international clients in all areas of federal supply, service and construction contracts. They represent contractors in all phases of public procurement, including bid protests, compliance with federal laws and regulations, DCAA audits, contract administration, change order negotiations, and litigation of claims and disputes.
