Husch Blackwell’s Cory Collins Selected to Springfield Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2012

Springfield Business Journal named Husch Blackwell’s Cory L. Collins to the 40 Under 40 Class of 2012. The award honors 40 area leaders under the age of 40 for their accomplishments as business and community leaders. Those selected were honored at an awards ceremony Thursday, May 17.

Business Litigation Partner, Collins assists a wide variety of clients, from individuals to Fortune 500 companies. His litigation work includes construction, real estate development, employment, products liability, contracts, negligence and property claims matters. Collins also frequently represents clients in the construction and development industry during negotiations with lenders in connection with acquisition and development loans, platting and development of real property, zoning issues and mechanic’s lien actions. Collins has negotiated sales of property ranging in price from $500,000 to $5 million. Some of his recent significant work includes assisting a real estate development company in the renegotiation of $14 million in loans and obtaining a favorable $1.5 million verdict for a shareholder in a business litigation dispute. In 2011, Collins was named a Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the area of Business Litigation.

In addition to serving as Hiring Chair of Husch Blackwell’s Springfield office and mentoring new associates, Collins is active in a variety of community organizations as well. He is on the Director’s Staff of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and has been a Shriner since 2004. Collins believes in the care that Shriners Hospital provides children up to the age of 18 without any financial obligation imposed on the children’s families. Collins is also a member of the Board of Directors for Friends of the Zoo, a Dickerson Park Zoo support organization, and serves on its Governance and Development committees. In addition, Collins assists in the fundraising efforts of the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball and sits on the Mizzou Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.
