David Lewis, David Pursell, Harvey Tettlebaum, Barb Miltenberger and Rob Hess Among 46 Husch Blackwell AHLA Members

Five of Husch Blackwell's American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) members serve in 2011 leadership roles, committed to the nonprofit's goal to "lead health law to excellence through education, information and dialogue."

For the second year in a row, Husch Blackwell Partner David T. Lewis will serve as AHLA's Vice Chair of the Physicians and Physician Organizations Practice Group. The Group addresses the legal issues that arise in physician-hospital joint ventures and contractual arrangements, credentialing practices, physician group practice structures, compensation methodologies and professional liability insurance matters. Lewis is also the Contracting Committee Co-Chair of AHLA's Accountable Care Organizations Task Force.

AHLA selected Husch Blackwell Partner David Pursell as a Vice Chair of its Hospitals and Health Systems' Fair Market Value Affinity Group. The Group works to promote dialogue on the various methods for developing hospital and referral source transactions' fair market value. By opening the lines of communication on differing experiences nationwide, the Group hopes to "assist members in constructing compliant hospital-referral source transactions."

Husch Blackwell Partner and AHLA Fellow Harvey M. Tettlebaum serves as Chair the AHLA Fellows Coordinating Committee for 2011. Fellows act as ambassadors for the Association and receive the honorable title due to their commitment and service to AHLA and the legal profession. The Fellows Coordinating Committee oversees the Fellows program and activities.

Additional Husch Blackwell AHLA leaders include Partner Barb Miltenberger, who joined the Board of Directors last year, and Partner Robert Hess joined the Young Professionals Council in 2010. Forty-six Husch Blackwell attorneys are members of AHLA, an educational organization comprising more than 10,000 members that serves as a public resource on legal healthcare issues.

Husch Blackwell's Healthcare attorneys represent clients in transactional, operational, regulatory and administrative matters. The group's clientele includes hospitals and health systems, healthcare professionals and long term care and nursing facilities. Many members of the Healthcare team worked in the healthcare industry as counselors, researchers, administrative coordinators and academics before joining Husch Blackwell, providing valuable insight for the firm. In addition to the group's involvement in AHLA, many are also active members of the Health Care Compliance Association and several are noted as high achievers by groups including The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Super Lawyers.
