Volel has more than 20 years’ experience identifying, protecting and licensing high-technology ideas, inventions and developments.

Volel drafts and prepares patent applications and performs patent prosecution on a variety of technologies, assisting biomedical and other healthcare clients. He also has experience with high-technology patents inside and outside the healthcare industry, across the nation and worldwide, including: artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, open source code, computer hardware and software, cell phone and wireless technology, aircraft electronics, semiconductor fabrication, mathematical algorithms, user interfaces, and event-driven and object-oriented programming languages.

Clients appreciate that Volel monitors the field, staying current. This, along with his background in engineering, allows him to effectively represent their ideas and designs before the U.S. States Patent and Trademark Office. On behalf of clients, Volel drafts patent validity, patent infringement, trademark infringement, copyright infringement and unfair competition opinions. He routinely drafts intellectual property agreements, including technical service agreements, software licenses and nondisclosure agreements. Additionally, he drafts domain name complaints and responses.

What Volel most enjoys is letting the world know about a client’s development. He appreciates seeing important ideas in their infancy – years before they are brought to market – and collaborating with inventors, engineers, legal teams and the U.S. States Patent and Trademark Office to bring an idea to fruition.
