Focusing her practice on mass tort and product liability matters, Tierra represents some of the world’s leading manufacturers in the equipment manufacturing, specialty chemical, and petrochemical industries. As a member of several client teams, Tierra manages the litigation in asbestos exposure claims, which consists of handling discovery and fact investigation, and developing defense strategies.
While pursuing her law degree, Tierra gained valuable real world experience which her clients benefit from today.
Tierra served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Jeffrey Ford, a circuit judge with the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Illinois. She regularly drafted bench memoranda and discussed motions and case materials with the Judge before and after orders were entered. Tierra also served as an intern through the Association of Corporate Counsel Diversity Program. In this capacity, she gained valuable experience working on cases brought under the False Claims Act for a leading pharmaceutical company. As a member of the Civil Litigation Clinic, where she represented a number of clients in landlord tenant disputes and divorce proceedings, Tierra frequently appeared before the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Illinois.
Tierra also worked as a Legal Extern with the Federal Defender Program in the Northern District of Illinois. In this role, she regularly communicated with both clients and opposing counsel. She also assisted in the preparation of appellate briefs for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
