Samantha focuses her practice on advertising and marketing, promotions, privacy, securities, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate law. Organizations rely on Samantha to not only clearly convey their possible strategies, but help them analyze the risks and benefits associated with each option. She strives to help clients reach educated decisions that are right for their businesses.
Whether seeking advice on the legality of digital marketing strategies or structuring contests and sweepstakes, clients often come straight to Samantha for their advertising and promotional needs. When assisting clients with promotions, she is regularly involved through each stage of the process – from advising on the legality of various entry methods and preparing registrations, official rules and advertising disclosures, to counseling on prize restrictions and winner releases. Samantha also provides guidance on the proper management of consumer review websites, including preparing terms and conditions and advising on necessary disclaimers, and understands the complicated regulations surrounding new technologies and their use in digital marketing. She is adept at advising on the content of advertisements as well, such as counseling on issues related to claim substantiation, product labeling and endorsement disclosure requirements.
In the corporate law arena, Samantha works most often with issues relating to commercial contracts and licensing, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, privacy, and securities laws. She acquires data up front and uses her keen analytical skills to look for gaps that may create future problems. She employs her acute attention to detail and creative critical thinking abilities to protect clients up front and reduce the likelihood for disputes or complications going forward.
Samantha also has an active pro bono practice, frequently helping members of her local community organize and start small businesses through the Legal Services of Eastern Missouri’s Community Economic Development Program and St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts. In addition, she enjoys counseling locally-based nonprofits, such as the Saint Louis Fashion Fund and Type Hike, on a broad variety of business issues. She strives to give back to her community in a non-legal capacity too, such as through her membership on the Board of the Young Friends of the Humane Society of Missouri – helping homeless animals get second chances.
