Paula assists clients in the food and food systems industries, helping them stay abreast of regulatory changes that affect their businesses.
Paula comes to the practice of law with a passion for policy and for the environment. As an undergraduate, she pursued majors in both political science and environmental studies and was fascinated by questions of how legal policies impact communities, individuals, and daily life. She soon accepted a position as an assistant at a law firm, primarily supporting a team focused on food regulations. Paula quickly discovered that the laws governing food systems were integral to environmental policies, and she decided to enroll in law school with a goal of practicing in this field.
Today, Paula advises clients ranging from food and beverage companies to food packaging providers to agricultural organizations. She offers counsel on regulations regarding labeling, packaging, and ingredient requirements, as well as local policies such as California’s Proposition 65. Paula also provides policy reviews and advice on how potential policy changes may affect client businesses.
In addition to her traditional food industries practice, Paula also works with clients in the alternative farming and sustainability arena. She is especially excited to support businesses on the cutting edge of future agriculture, such as alternative protein developers and indoor farmers.
Known for her enthusiasm for clients’ work, Paula loves nothing more than developing an in-depth understanding of the companies she serves. Her aim is to know a client’s operations inside and out so that she is well placed to advise on compliance needs and risk management.
