As a Senior Advisor for Husch Blackwell, Michael assists and guides clients with their governmental affairs issues and strategies. He is the president of Capital Advantage LLC, a Topeka, Kan., lobbying firm. Previously, he was director of governmental affairs for Embarq Corp. and Sprint Corp.
He spent 12 years as a special assistant and then administrative assistant for U.S. Rep. Jan Meyers of Kansas. He also was the congresswoman’s finance director during her campaign.
From 1968 to 1984, Michael held numerous campaign staff and management positions with political campaigns, ranging from mayoral elections, to state House and Senate campaigns, to campaigns for the U.S. House, for governor and for U.S. Senate. One of Michael’s first positions was on the staff for Bob Dole’s first run for U.S. Senate in 1968.
