When Mary Pat was very young, a foster child named Casey joined a family in her parish. Casey had been burned at the hands of her abusive parents. Then and there, Mary Pat decided that she wanted to be an advocate for the Caseys of the world.

Mary Pat’s formative childhood experiences led to a highly successful career as an assistant circuit attorney for the City of St. Louis. A skilled litigator who is supremely comfortable in the courtroom, Mary Pat has a proven ability to win cases. Her analytical, investigative and organizational skills drive results: She prosecuted 87 trials to verdict and achieved a 100 percent conviction rate in homicide cases. Mary Pat argued a variety of hearings on pretrial matters, dispositive motions and sentencing at all levels and gained deep experience with trial preparation, including coordinating with and preparing law enforcement and expert witnesses.

Now Mary Pat puts her experience to work for Husch Blackwell clients, representing organizations in cases arising from whistleblower or hotline reports, or government investigations. When a case is filed in St. Louis, Mary Pat is the first call colleagues and clients make. Her deep knowledge of the jurisdiction, her fostered relationships and her reputation as a formidable litigator produce positive results for clients in the courtroom.

A proven leader, Mary Pat previously supervised a team of trial attorneys and mentored entry-level attorneys on legal issues and trial practice. She led regular training sessions and served as a faculty member for both the National District Attorneys Association and the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services.

When a faith-based nonprofit organization faced a setback, they called Mary Pat. Potentially illegal materials were located on a computer. Mary Pat is a sensitive yet unflappable investigator who has effectively interviewed children, inmates, sex crimes victims and individuals who have been preyed upon in financial fraud but have not yet discovered the breach. As she routinely does in such cases, Mary Pat set about gathering meticulous information on uneasy topics, contacted the proper authorities and brought the matter to a successful conclusion. She also assisted in establishing proactive steps to mitigate future risk.
