Kyle was the kind of kid who took things apart to see how they worked. He is intrigued by engineering, invention and detail.

His passion made him a natural fit for patent law, and after earning two undergraduate engineering degrees, he pursued a career as an intellectual property attorney. Kyle’s background helps him consider legal matters in terms of processes, outcomes and long-term results. He is able to focus on details while considering how they affect the bigger picture.

Kyle has prepared more than 70 patent applications, prosecuting applications in the United States and abroad, and prepared noninfringement and invalidity opinion letters. He also regularly counsels clients on trademarks, copyrights and license agreements and conducts prior art, clearance and patentability searches.

Patent work protects the very center of a client’s business: its products, processes and ideas. These are intangible assets that cannot be protected by physical barriers, and Kyle enjoys providing the essential legal protection a company’s ideas require. Nothing excites him more than working with a client that is excited about a new idea—and helping the client leverage legal protection to achieve its business goals.
