John loves understanding how things work. His passion led him to a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and eventually to a career as a patent agent.

John first learned about opportunities in the intellectual property world while working as a research scientist. He recognized immediately that patent work would let him collaborate with fellow scientists and dig deeply into a variety of inventions, discoveries and technologies, and he began to prepare for the patent bar.

As a registered patent agent before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, John has prepared patent applications in chemistry, life sciences and mechanical arts, including polymerization and commercial applications of polymers, small molecule inhibitors, pharmaceutical formulations and biotechnology applications. As a scientist himself, he has the background knowledge to understand clients’ inventions, and he has the attention to detail necessary for patent work.

John loves the rigor and precision of the patent process, and he loves having daily opportunities to study new scientific processes and understand how they work. But most of all, he’s excited to help scientists and inventors protect the results of their hard work.
