Jennifer focuses on traditional real estate transactions and development projects with an emphasis on self-storage facilities, affordable housing, commercial property investments, master-planned communities, resort and other mixed-use projects.

She assists commercial real estate industry clients with acquisitions and dispositions, entitlements, condominium formation and development, management agreements, debt financings and entity formation and governance.

Jennifer also has significant experience with the railroad industry, representing a Class I railroad in a variety of acquisitions and dispositions, as well as the negotiation of agreements with political bodies, including crossing agreements, levee agreements, signal agreements and easements among others.

Experience
  • Represented a self-storage investor on due diligence, corporate organization and financing matters in the contribution of over 200 self-storage facilities across the United States in connection with the creation of a self-storage REIT and related initial public offering.
  • Real estate counsel to a publicly traded self-storage REIT in connection with the acquisition and disposition of self-storage facilities located throughout the United States with transactions ranging in size from a single self-storage facility to large multi-state portfolios.
  • Represent a private, multi-state owner and operator of self-storage facilities in the acquisition of self-storage facilities, coordinating all aspects of due diligence and assisting in corporate organizational work in connection therewith.
  • Represented owner in the acquisition of vacant land and related construction financing in connection with the development of a self-storage facility, and upon completion of development and lease-up, oversaw the equity contribution into a self-storage REIT.
  • Represents owner/developer in connection with the acquisition and development of a transit oriented development mixed use project.
  • Served as developer's real estate counsel in connection with the development and operation of a mountain resort community. Work included creating common interest communities and preparing documents in connection with the same, negotiating and documenting the sale of residential units, and advising on various development and operational issues.
  • Served as counsel for a Class I railroad in connection with the relocation and sale of various railroad corridors to a regional transit authority in connection with the development and expansion of a public rail transit system.
  • Represented a Class I railroad on various real estate matters for the Illinois High Speed Rail Project, including multiple crossing agreements with the Illinois Department of Transportation and related local agencies.
  • Represents a Class I railroad on the negotiation and preparation of various public project related agreements with state departments of transportation, cities, counties and other political bodies across the railroad's network, including without limitation, roadway crossing and levee construction and maintenance agreements.
  • Currently assisting railroad client with updating various public project related real estate and engineering forms, which will result in reduced legal spend and improved efficiencies for the client.
  • Represents an affordable housing investor in connection with the acquisition and disposition of partnership interests and the overall management of its low income housing tax credit portfolio.
