After a long career as a general counsel in a large multinational pharmaceutical company, James has unique perspectives on the legal, compliance and business aspects of developing and commercializing pharmaceutical products.
James has more than two decades of experience and relationship building as in-house senior and general counsel for pharmaceutical companies. He has handled all aspects of legal work and counseling for business units responsible for the development, launch, sales and marketing and medical education activities for pharmaceutical products. He is experienced in policy development, training of sales and marketing and medical teams, FDA regulations, product pricing, managed care contracting, intellectual property matters, real estate transactions and international corporate restructuring. He oversaw the legal work for North American specialty medicines during a significant growth phase at a major multinational pharmaceutical company. In addition, he collaborated with legal and business teams in multiple countries and jurisdictions outside the United States.
He enjoys the intellectual challenges of the work, and he’s gained experience and adapted with the changing legal and compliance landscape in the healthcare and life sciences industries as the legal issues have become more complex. But what he finds especially rewarding is that his efforts contributed to the development and commercialization of products that make a difference in the lives of patients – extending lives or improving life quality.
