Outside the Office

Iana enjoys spending time with her family and attending the theatre.

Iana devotes most of her personal time to being with her son, and they enjoy visiting their extended family in Bulgaria. She watches art-house movies and attends theatre productions.

Pro Bono – Constitutional Law

Iana volunteers her time arguing for a prisoner’s rights under the Eighth Amendment.

Iana is drawn to pro bono cases in underdeveloped areas of law. She recently represented a prisoner seeking sex reassignment surgery in a case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The constitutional issue was recognized as an Eighth Amendment right in the Ninth Circuit in June 2018, and Iana is working to obtain a similar result for her client in the Seventh Circuit.
