Overview

With a strong background in business and corporate law, Carty is a deal lawyer who focuses his practice on tax credit transactions and M&A.

Carty advises participants in renewable energy tax credit finance and M&A transactions, including tax equity and transferability transactions, with an emphasis on solar and storage projects. 

He also has experience with a wide variety of other tax credits at both the federal and state levels, and he has worked on projects across the country. His tax credit work involves managing and directing the transaction process from the initial term sheet stage through to closing, including diligence and transaction document preparation, negotiation, and execution.

Alongside this tax credit practice, Carty has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other negotiated transactions, including acquisitions and sales of renewable energy projects (pre-NTP and operating)​. 

Carty takes pride in getting deals done, and he’s known for his ability to take a practical view in crafting solutions for challenges that arise during the transaction process.
