  • Second-chaired arbitration with over $1,700,000 in dispute.
  • Successfully defended client in evidentiary hearing and at Arizona Court of Appeals with over $900,000 in damages in dispute.
  • Obtained numerous summary judgments in defense of breach of contract and negligence allegations for real estate investment trust (REIT) clients.
  • Obtained dismissal on fraud allegations for healthcare technology client.
  • Successfully represented accountants and others in dismissal of fraudulent inducement and professional liability allegations.
  • Successfully defended large automobile insurer against nationwide class action claim alleging breach of insurance agreement and potential exposure in excess of $1B. Following three years of motion practice and Ninth Circuit appeal, the District of Oregon struck more than 95 percent of the class claims. Counsel for the remaining claims moved to dismiss with prejudice.

Capture the queen: Brian enjoys chess.

Brian spends his free time with his wife and their two cats and two dogs. But he’s also a lifelong chess enthusiast. He plays a tournament every Tuesday evening, travels to the National Open Chess Championship and is rated by the U.S. Chess Federation. He values how the game sharpens his litigations skills, allowing him to not only analyze his own position and strategy, but also that of his opponent.
