Alissa advocates for clients in complex commercial litigation matters.
Alissa realized she wanted to be a litigator in the eighth grade when she participated in a basic law course at her middle school that ended with a mock trial. It was her first exposure to the legal field, and she immediately knew that a career as an attorney would be the perfect way to combine her newfound passion for constructing arguments with her desire to serve as a zealous advocate for others.
As a law student, Alissa focused on learning about many different areas of law and gaining as much practical experience as possible, including clerkships with various law firms, interning with the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, and working with the general counsel’s office of a state university. Her past experience includes civil and commercial litigation, personal injury cases, white collar defense and criminal defense, and labor and employment matters, especially those related to rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Today, Alissa focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and business disputes. She’s particularly passionate about the discovery phase of litigation: she loves investigating, fact finding, crafting theories and laying the groundwork for her argument. Alissa also understands that cases are often truly won at this stage, because discovery done correctly sets the tone for the remainder of the litigation process.
Alissa sees litigation as a deeply personal practice and is known for seeing clients as more than their legal concerns. Her experiences have given her an appreciation for clients’ challenges and internal realities and have taught her the importance of keeping client goals front and center. Alissa understands that litigation is a stressful experience, and she takes matters as seriously as her clients do. As such, Alissa strives to truly connect with clients so that she can help them achieve the best legal outcome while still providing an excellent client experience.
