Adam assists clients in the energy industry with their real property needs.
Throughout his career, Adam has focused on the energy world, primarily working with owners and operators of oil and gas assets. Recently, he has expanded his practice into forms of renewable energy as well, including solar and wind. Adam drafts and negotiates leasing, purchase and sale, master service, confidentiality, operating and surface use agreements; deeds; conveyances; financing instruments; and other real property documents. He also has experience representing clients in contract disputes, drafting and reviewing title opinions, obtaining state permits, and advising clients on state energy and environmental regulations.
He’s usually at the client’s side all the way through the process, from the first contact with landowners or acquisition through the full development and eventual divestiture of the project. Adam was first drawn to a legal career because he considered it a service-driven industry with frequent opportunities to help when people are in need—an attitude that’s still reflected in his client service today.
Adam appreciates the detailed nature of energy and real estate transactions: he’s excited to analyze every piece of an agreement and to consider the wide variety of legal concepts transactions raise. He has long been fascinated by real property rights, especially with the complex history of land ownership in Texas.
Adam is best known among clients as an excellent communicator. He’s a gifted negotiator primarily because he believes communication includes effectively conveying your point, and, more importantly, listening to and understanding the other party. It’s a skill that means he knows how to ask the right questions to get the answers needed for clients to make the best business decisions.
