Please join Husch Blackwell attorneys, former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan (2009-2016) and former Under Secretary of Education Dr. Martha Kanter (2009-2013) for a reception and fundraiser benefiting the College Promise Campaign.
Husch Blackwell’s Higher Education group is pleased to host this reception to bring together area leaders from education, philanthropy, business and government to discuss the education-to-workforce pipeline. Husch Blackwell’s, Maurice A. Watson, will moderate a panel with Mr. Duncan and Dr. Kanter on challenges facing students and strategies for supporting them as they prepare for and enter their first two years of higher education. Light fare and mingling are also on the agenda.
The College Promise Campaign is a national, nonpartisan initiative to build broad public support for funding the first two years of higher education for hard-working students, starting in America’s community colleges. In the 21st Century, a high school diploma is no longer enough to lead Americans to good jobs and a decent quality of life. The Campaign's goal is for every American to enter and complete a college education without the burden of unmanageable debt. Their work on making the first two years of college freely available to all hardworking students is making a difference for thousands of youth and adults. College Promise is a part of Civic Nation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization working to organize, engage and build public awareness for some of our nation’s most pressing challenges. To learn more, visit the College Promise website.
