On January 22, 2017, all employers will be required to use the recently updated Form I-9. While the changes are intended to help employers reduce technical errors and facilitate electronic completion, the format of the form and its new sections present new ways for employers to make mistakes. Errors on the forms may be much more expensive with the recent hikes in I-9 fines. In addition, employers need to be aware of new rules about work authorization to ensure Form I-9 compliance.
Join Husch Blackwell attorneys for a brief discussion of the new Form I-9, how to complete it and how new rules affect Form I-9 compliance.
