Labor & Employment

Please join Husch Blackwell for an informative half-day program focusing on timely labor and employment issues.

  • Legal Update: How employment laws changed in 2012 and what’s ahead in 2013, including cases and legislation addressing arbitration agreements, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Affordable Care Act.
  • Preventing Workplace Violence: Employers’ rights and duties in providing safe workplaces, recognizing and dealing with potential violence and controlling weapons on company property.
  • Anticipating 2013’s Frequently Asked Questions: Now what is the NLRB doing? What are the limits when considering an applicant’s background – at least according to the EEOC? What do we do about medical marijuana - really?
  • Handling Employment Issues When the Answer Is Not in the Law Books: Short video skits of real world employment situations will be followed by discussion and analysis. Among the thorny problems will be discipline of protected workers, handling employee medical issues and what to do when employees complain about your company outside of the office.
